Common questions
- Where do I start?
- Under 1000 rating: the Boost tab walks you through checkmates, endgames and the habits that lose games. Over 1000: run a Scan of your recent games and Tabiya tells you which openings and mistakes to work on first.
- The scan can't find my games.
- Check the username is spelled exactly as on Lichess or Chess.com, and that you have played rated blitz, rapid or classical games recently. Scans only read public games.
- My progress vanished on a new phone.
- Progress lives on the device. Open Scan on the old device, create a sync code, then enter that code on the new one.
- The AI Coach says it is offline.
- The coach needs a connection to our server. Position analysis and game review still work without it because the engine runs on your device.
- The board is slow or freezes during drills.
- The engine is doing the thinking on your phone. Close other heavy apps, and on very old devices use the quick scan mode.
- Is the AI coach checked by an engine?
- When you analyse a position or review a game, Stockfish checks it on your device first and the reply shows an Engine check panel with those numbers. The explanation in words is AI-written and not automatically verified. Details: tabiya-eight.vercel.app/coach/how-it-works.
- Is the iPhone app free? Where do I get Coach Pro?
- The iOS app is free, with no in-app purchases. Coach Pro is optional and sold on this website only, as a one-off pass. The price shown at checkout is the total you pay, and nothing renews.
- Is Tabiya OK for children?
- See the page for parents: tabiya-eight.vercel.app/parents. No accounts, no chat with other people, no ads, and the AI coach only talks about chess.
- My opening isn't covered.
- Run the Weakness Scan. Openings you play that have no card yet are listed under the report — tap “request this card” next to yours. Requests decide which cards we write next.
